Gear Repair Tips in Final Fantasy XIV - Jannick - 04-27-2021

Everything you need to know about Gear can be found in your character window!

These are many of the concepts we will discuss.

The FFXIV Gear Item Map

The equipment itself can be accessed in the arsenal window.

Functionally, the most important places in the inventory are weapons and work stones. Whatever you're working on, the character will do that work on the basis of well-equipped weapons, even if they're not really weapons in the sense of crafting and collecting. (Although I believe you can meet a good guy with a good fishing rod.) Once you reach level 30 in combat, your Job Stone will give you additional skills. In addition to these two there is a spare shield, or additional tools for crafting and collecting.

All classes use the other 11 slots, which are essentially clothing and accessories: head, body, arms, waist, legs, feet, earrings, necklace, bracelet and two slots for two different rings each. From level 10 all clothing-like items should be used, from around 20 you should fill up the accessories.

After a certain level, items become exclusive to your class. That is, you cannot wear samurai equipment on a white mage, for example.

The best way to do this is to use the Recommended Gear button above your character picture before entering the stump. The exception to this is when you have an item with a strange property, such as a toy. B. an EXP boost, in which case the stat difference for such an item is likely to be negligible. If so, equip all "Recommended Equipment" and then swap related items.

If you are unsure whether your equipment is up to date, there are usually vendors in Eorzea who sell equipment that is on par with the level of the area.

While performing combat content, crafting, or collecting in Final Fantasy XIV, your equipment will wear out over time. As you inspect your equipment, you will find that the condition of your equipment is getting worse and worse. When your equipment reaches 0% health, it becomes "damaged". All statistics provided by damaged devices will be lost until you repair the device. So how do you fix something that is broken?

Pay the repair NPC with gil

You can pay repairman NPCs to repair equipment. You can usually find these NPCs anywhere in cities or Aether Camps. You can always repair items when their condition drops below 100% just in case the equipment condition gets too low. Depending on how bad the condition of your equipment is, you may have to pay a small amount of gil to repair all of the items you carry. Clicking on the menu next to the repairman menu will allow you to repair other items that may be in your inventory or in the armor box.

Repairing your own equipment with dark matter
Dispatch crafters can repair your own equipment. When examining devices, you will see information about the degree of repair of the device below the condition and the fixed percentage. If you meet the "Repair Level" criteria listed (leveling a crafting job to a certain level), you can use the dark matter to repair the equipment.

Right-click the item and choose Repair. You'll see a similar list and menu on the patch NPC, this time with dark matter listing instead of final fantasy xiv gil. Depending on the level of the device, you will need a certain amount of dark matter. You can find dark matter for sale on the Market Board, or you can use the Grand Company seal to buy your own dark matter.

Restoring the device with Dark Matter is the most convenient option. In the instance contents, you can even manually repair your own gear, which is different from the tinkerer NPCs that you can only find in the open world. You will have to work your way up to manual labor to get the full benefits, but it's definitely worth it in the long run.
