Afghan women suffer under chaffing restrictions on employment and education - report
Most of the women were forced to rely on male relatives' incomes to support their families, when before, they were able to support their families independently.
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF

Nearly three years on from the disorderly US withdrawal from Afghanistan, Afghan women are continuing to suffer under the Taliban's repressive regime. BBC Arabic detailed the cases of several women who had either lost their jobs or had their salaries slashed, some by up to 90%. Most of the women were forced to rely on male relatives' incomes to support their families, when before, they were able to support their families independently.

It’s heartbreaking to see the setbacks Afghan women are facing under these restrictions, especially when they once had independence and the ability to provide for their families.

It’s heartbreaking to see the setbacks Afghan women are facing under these restrictions, especially when they once had independence and the ability to provide for their families. This is a tough example of employment discrimination at its core—stripping people of the right to work and support themselves. It’s more than just unfair; it forces entire families into dependence and limits any chance of personal growth or stability for these women.
