Sales Tax vs Property Taxes
#1
I hate taxes as much as the next person but also realize they are a necessary evil. What I hate the most is property taxes. You can never pay everything off and have your living expenses be “free” minus your utilities.

I wonder what percentage sales tax would have to increase to offset property taxes? Y’all got any other ways to offset property taxes without going to state income tax?

When it comes to sales tax vs. property taxes, I think they hit differently depending on what you're dealing with. Sales tax is something you pay every time you buy something, so it's like a little bit of money here and there. It feels more manageable because it's spread out. But property taxes, especially on something big like a house or land, can sneak up on you. You get this one big bill that can be a bit of a shock. And if you're dealing with commercial property, you've also got to think about VAT on top of everything else. Here’s a bit more about vat on commercial property: VAT on commercial property. At the end of the day, it depends on what you're more comfortable with—smaller, constant payments or one big lump sum.
