With the new dungeon difficulty mode for Wrath of the Lich King Classic and the Odur patch coming soon, many World of Warcraft fans are likely to be excited.
The appeal of World of Warcraft Nostalgia has always been the opportunity to experience a faithful recreation of the old days, but it also offers Blizzard developers the opportunity to do something better with the help of hindsight - and the introduction of Heroic Plus on exactly the same difficulty as Wrath of the Lich King. World of Warcraft players have become accustomed to the Mythic Plus dungeons of the game's modern era, which provide an effective and valuable alternative to raiding the Rubble of World of Warcraft.
One of the biggest downsides to Wrath of the Lich King was the difficulty of the heroic dungeons, which was arguably the deciding factor in Blizzard's decision to introduce tougher heroes into Cataclysm. As the release of Wrath of the Lich King Classic O'Doul drew near, the developers found a way to introduce a new level of difficulty to the dungeons of Northrend while merging the mechanics with the new raid theme.
In the new patch notes for Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Wowhead has identified a number of Heroic Plus-related achievements. Titled Defense Protocol Alpha, it includes all 12 dungeons since the release of the expansion pack. The four dungeons introduced in Patch 3.2 and Patch 3.3 are missing, but there's no reason players won't see Heroic Plus versions of the Sarum Pit or Hall of Reflections in the future.
As with the introduction of the Mythic Cornerstone, World of Warcraft players can access the heroic mode of the classic Wrath of the Lich King heroic dungeon by interacting with the ritual items at the dungeon's entrance. If all five players channel them at the same time, the damage and life expectancy of the monsters in the instance will be significantly increased and new boss mechanics will be introduced.
Unlike Mythic Cornerstone, Heroic Plus does not time out but serves as a traditional dungeon challenge for World of Warcraft players to complete. The loot dropped in this new dungeon difficulty matches Naxxramas' gear in 10-player mode, giving players a new way to close the gear rating gap and focus on cheap wotlk classic gold raiding the titan city of to prepare odor.
While some might argue that adding Heroic Plus would detract from the game's authenticity, there are stronger arguments against it. World of Warcraft Classics is good because it respectfully walks the fine line between faithfully preserving the gameplay experience of the older sourcebooks and blindly suffering from their mistakes.
