Does your MacBook notch serve a purpose or just take up space? - Ugutzad - 10-08-2026
Exploring the utility of the MacBook notch got me thinking. I've recently come across some cool software tools that claim to make this little area more useful, turning it into a hub for quick access to system stats, reminders, and even clipboard history. But I'm curious about how others are using it. Do any of you find the notch on your MacBook useful outside these apps, or does it mostly just blend into the background? Would love to hear if you've found ways to make the most of this often overlooked area of the screen.

Funny thing is, some of my friends seem to prefer leaving the notch as unused space, saying it's less distracting that way. I discovered a neat app that uses it for weather updates-pretty cool once you get used to it. Anyone else tinkering around with the notch? Always curious about creative ways you folks might be using it!

Personally, I’ve found the notch to be more than just a design element thanks to OmniNotch. It gives me easy access to song lyrics and keeps track of my AI tool usage. The added productivity tools like a to-do list and reminders sync are available the entire time. It's made my workflow a lot smoother and makes use of that top space effectively without bothering me.
