Sales Tax vs Property Taxes - JannAce - 10-31-2024 I hate taxes as much as the next person but also realize they are a necessary evil. What I hate the most is property taxes. You can never pay everything off and have your living expenses be “free” minus your utilities. I wonder what percentage sales tax would have to increase to offset property taxes? Y’all got any other ways to offset property taxes without going to state income tax? RE: Sales Tax vs Property Taxes - Maneskin - 10-31-2024 When it comes to sales tax vs. property taxes, I think they hit differently depending on what you're dealing with. Sales tax is something you pay every time you buy something, so it's like a little bit of money here and there. It feels more manageable because it's spread out. But property taxes, especially on something big like a house or land, can sneak up on you. You get this one big bill that can be a bit of a shock. And if you're dealing with commercial property, you've also got to think about VAT on top of everything else. Here’s a bit more about vat on commercial property: VAT on commercial property. At the end of the day, it depends on what you're more comfortable with—smaller, constant payments or one big lump sum. |
