This morning, EA Sports released a blog that explained its new system for locomotion coming to the coming Madden NFL 23. Highlights of the new system include greater realistic acceleration of players and a greater impact on player's acceleration. It shouldn't be a unexpected that the system that was developed for Madden NFL 23 will be used in EA's next professional football simulation game, Madden NFL 23.

In a blog post posted at the Madden NFL 23 blog, the lead game designer Ryan Burnsides described how the new locomotion system works within the framework that are part of Madden's NFL game. Before getting into the specifics of how locomotion will impact Madden 23 Burnsides began by criticizing the previous year's Madden:

"Things such as acceleration, direction changes and momentum were extremely difficult to control however, even though the end result was an enjoyable interaction for users, we were aware that we needed to implement an extremely radical change to our toolset in order to reach our goals."

With this in mind With that in mind, Madden's Madden design team decided that they would begin by creating the new system which incorporated the technology used in the EA FIFA game (known as RailTracks) and also as code that was built from the ground-up. Burnsides explained the modifications to Madden 23 into three distinct areas: acceleration, momentum as well as visuals. Here are some quotes from the game:
