Passwords are important for protecting our privacy and keeping out outside threats, but it seems like we have to remember a lot of them these days, and they don't seem to get any easier to remember. If you have an HP printer, you'll be glad to know that you can change the default password without calling your IT guy or waiting in line at the local print shop.
In 5 easy steps, this guide will show you how to change the password for your HP printer. This is how!
1) Sign up your item.
The first step is to let HP know about your product. You can do this online or over the phone. After you've signed up, you'll be able to make an account. You can change the password by going to the control panel of the printer.
First, go to the menu bar and choose User Setup.
Then, on the next page, choose "Enter New User Name."
Enter a new username for yourself, then click Save. Next, give yourself a new password twice, in two separate boxes, and click Save.
The last step is to click "Done" to finish setting up your account.
2) Reset your device
You can reset your device if you've forgotten your password or want to change it for safety reasons. This will put your printer back to how it was when it came out of the box, so you can make a new password.
Here's what to do. Pull the power cord out of the printer's back. Unplug any cables, like USB or Ethernet cables, that are plugged into the back of the printer. At least 10 seconds should pass. Plug in the power cord and wait until the power light comes on.
