Tencent Games brings Arena of Valor to the Nintendo Switch
#1
There’s no denying in my mind that MOBA’s, or multiplayer online battle arenas, brought competitive eSports into the general public’s eye. Now, Nintendo Switch is seeing the first title in the genre, Arena of Valor, make its way onto the platform. With some minor tweaks to controls, Arena of Valor is ideal on the Nintendo Switch when compared to its mobile counterpart, just don’t expect it to cure your League of Legends or Dota 2 addiction.

If you’re already familiar with Arena of Valor, there are a few things you should know about the Switch port. For starters, a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is not required to play. Second, the Switch version will interact with neither the iOS nor Android versions. Finally, at the time of this writing, the Death Match game option and DC characters are not available. Anything this game lacks, compared to the mobile versions, it makes up for by being a more polished and playable version of the game. When starting to play Arena of Valor game, Arena of Valor Accounts is a necessary element on condition that you would like to hold a leadership position in Arena of Valor game.

However, the Arena of Valor that lands on Switch will be a separate version of the game entirely. Developers are taking advantage of the Switch's processing power, and they've upgraded the graphics and animations in the new version, touching up lighting effects, smoothing out rough lines and adding elements like fluttering butterflies to the maps. More importantly, the heroes on Switch have slightly different stats than the mobile version, as developers have worked to balance the game as it plays out on the big screen and with actual controllers.

Tencent is hoping Arena of Valor’s new console port will bring its eSports success on mobile to Nintendo Switch, and with a solid netcode, an accessible and enjoyable take on the MOBA template and a free-to-play model, there’s no reason it can’t achieve that goal in the months (and years) to come. While it does have a few technical issues at launch, they don't detract from the fact Nintendo Switch now has a proper MOBA to add to its library of supported genres. One of the world's biggest games is now on Switch, and that's something to celebrate.
