There is a way to get pass Steam as a fan game. Although, it won’t be something that I have to worry about until Part 2 is released.

Steam greenlight have absolutely no tolerance towards fan games because it is based on existing work. And it is generally speaking, prohibitive for a fan game to ask corporations for authorization because there is no incentive for big corporations to do so in the first place.

Most of the steam greenlight RPG games are weakly programmed due to potential copyright implications. Graphics are generally weaker as well. All thanks to the system.

Now back to MLP RPG. After part 2’s launch, there will be another version of MLP RPG created, and named “Challenge The Unknown”. This version of the game will have ALL of the copyrighted concepts removed; includes: pony spirits, pony vectors, MLP related contents, all of the dialogues with pony terms in it. Instead, they will be replaced with “something else” like computer generated names and graphics, and spirits.

Of course, the revised game will be going thru steam greenlight as a strategy based challenge game.

Once the game gets pass as “just another RPG maker game”. There will be option in the game that allows player to download files that makes the game revise back to MLP RPG.

FAQ:

Whats the point?

A: Because Steam is a large platform that can bring in more players for MLP RPG. It is a group of population that I cannot ignore.

Won’t your method to be detected by Steam?

Yes, it will be detected. But there is nothing they can do about it. Because if players revise their game back to MLP RPG, it would be considered as 3rd part add-on (on player’s behalf), and I have ways to deal with legal issues if Steam wants to mess with it. It is the same as modding games like GTA 5, except it will be a package of mods instead of one particular mod.

What if you don’t get enough votes?

A: I have seen barley standing games getting thru steam greenlight. Whether or not it gets enough votes, it won’t affect MLP RPG at all. If anything, it is just a bonus.

What if it doesn’t get listed as greenlight item?

A:Lets just say there is absolutely no reason for Steam to deny a copyright-free game. Because “Challenge The Unknown” will be just a combat simulator, with blanked out plot.

Will it cost money on Steam if it gets passed?

A: It will probably cost 1 dollar than free, free. MLP RPG will remain FREE. Free to play, free download, free updates.

Will you incorporate steam SDK?

A: Yes. There will be steam trading cards, achievement (linked with in game achievements).

When it will be incorporated?

After the launch of MLP RPG Part 2. This would be the next thing to push out. If you need an analysis on exactly when, because I have been pushing MLP RPG stuff for too long……

Lets just say I am busy in a boring sense. I am lead researcher for system philosophy, senior university student who is graduating soon, I will be moving this month to a mountain house rather than living in the city (moving will take a month), I have travel plan for 2016 summer that will take the entire 3 months.

Final draft of the plot for MLP RPG Part 2 will be finished BEFORE 2016 (will have to make it happen no matter what happens).

MLP RPG Part 2 will be finalized and published by Q4 2016. <— Latest by Q2 2017. As the final deadline.

So expect Challenge the Unknown to be on steam greenlight around 2017.

Very interesting idea, HarvardHan! Pretty clever way to get around the copyright nonsense you came up with there.
